T-1A
The missionized T-1A, Beechjet 400T, is a derivative of the Raytheon Aircraft Companies commercial Beechjet 400A and is used by the USAF for navigator training. The T-1A prime contract was awarded to Douglas Aircraft Company in February 1990 and later transitioned to McDonnell Douglas Training Systems (MDTS). RAC, a major subcontractor, was responsible for providing aircraft and aircraft related support. A total of 180 T-1As were delivered. To date the fleet has accumulated over one million flight hours without experiencing a single accident, a testament to the safety, quality and reliability of the design and construction.
The T-1A is powered by Pratt & Whitney of Canada JT15D-5B engines and features Collins avionics. Modifications include: redesigned cabin and flight deck to accommodate a pilot, co-pilot, and observer, plus extensive anthropometric refinements, integration of electronic flight instrument system (EFIS) avionics, relocation of avionics boxes to the environmentally controlled cabin to increase service life, installation of single-point fuel port, and other modifications intended to reduce maintenance man-hours per flight hour (MMH/FH). The avionics relocation resulted in a substantial redesign of the aircraft environmental system.
