Hawker Beechcraft Corporation started modifying production aircraft for special missions in 1939. It is part of our longstanding culture to engineer airplanes in such a way they can be tailored for missions other than transporting people. The direct result of that culture is twofold: 1) Our airplanes that enter commercial market are more durable and reliable; and 2) Innovative special mission aircraft can be fielded for a fraction of the cost of an all-new design without sacrificing the rugged durability called for by special mission operations.
